My beautiful Iran.
Coming home to Iran as an adult felt like coming home to a deep, internal part of myself. The feeling of belonging and connection, of finally finding something after a long period of unknowingly searching for it.
Everyone has their own ideas about Iran through the stories they hear or read on the news, but in truth Iran could not be more different than all of this. Iran is a country rich in beauty, colour, culture and history. It is a country whose living essence pulses with art, from every rose bush and sun-lit stained glass window. Whose people are full of warmth and a precious love, despite everything that happens in their land.
The more years pass, the more special these photos become. They remind me of days where all I remember feeling for Iran was awe, safety and a kind of existence in myself that didn’t need explaining. I have realised that my relationship with Iran will forever evolve the older and further away I get, but that Iran will always show itself somehow in the ways I create.
True to the saying, that one may leave Iran, but Iran never leaves you.
